How to Apply

Students looking to pursue a graduate degree at Lamar University can choose from over 40 master's degree, five doctoral degree and several certificate programs. To be eligible for graduate admission, a student must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Graduate admission at Lamar University is competitive, and requirements vary by department. Please refer to your degree program's website for specific requirements and standards beyond those listed here. Simply search your program of interest in the top right search bar to navigate to the departmental website.

Admissions Requirements

Prospective graduate students should submit all admissions materials at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester in which they wish to begin studies. Upon receipt of all university-required documents, the Admissions Office will forward your file to your desired academic department for an admission decision.

Graduate Application Requirements:

    1. Complete the admissions application at ApplyTexas.
    2. Submit official transcripts/evaluations for
      • The conferred bachelor's or master's degree required for the intended program from a regionally accredited US institution or its equivalent.
      • The most recent institution of attendance if it differs from the institution of the conferred degree.
    3. Submit scores on the GRE or GMAT*
      • Both tests are administered by the LU Career & Testing Center.
      • Use school code 6360 for GRE.
    *Scores may not be more than five years old.
