Students who apply for housing after May 1 are placed in housing only on a space-available basis. Take advantage of these unique—and free—housing options to expand your college experience through exploration and collaboration. For information on early arrival housing for international students, visit housing.umn.edu/international. AFTER YOU CONFIRM NEW STUDENT CHECKLIST * The New Student Checklist is completed by students online. After receiving the Checklist email, students will select an Orientation date, complete their TUAY survey, orientation prep course, placement exams, upload a photo for their U Card, submit final transcripts, update personal information, and more. ORIENTATION Orientation is a two-day, overnight event that is required for all new students to ease the transition to college. Students will meet their advisor, register for classes, learn about campus resources, and meet other incoming freshmen. WELCOME WEEK The week prior to the start of school is where you’ll really feel immersed in the Gopher community. Welcome Week showcases a wide variety of events, including Pride & Spirit, Convocation, exploring campus and the surrounding community, and meeting new friends. * Instructions on the New Student Checklist and how to select an Orientation date will be emailed to new students who have confirmed their enrollment beginning in April.
